CliffCentral in 8 legged attack

We’ve had the enormous privilege to be invited for an interview with CliffCentral. Our resident tarantula breeder and certified Kool Kid® Rozanné Schnetler went to their studio in Rivonia, not knowing what to expect…

Upon meeting the extremely inviting crew, Rozanné showed her two friends she brought along – Pink the Pink Zebra Beauty (E campestratus) and a male Brazillian Purple Bloom Tarantula (P. sp Machala). Being the awesome pet she is, Pink did the rounds in the studio, and was handled by some familiar faces:

Arno Naudé is a true veteran in exotic pets. He is like a walking encyclopedia and a true lover of conservation and of animals. A lot of the legislation banning exotic animals in South Africa was fought by him (successfully) through reason and science.
He is, although, a bit scared of spiders (he is  more of a snake person). Being the true gentleman he is, someone handed Pink to him in studio – and hid his fear so that others around him would not freak out. Well done! We can count ourselves as fortunate to have someone like this in our camp.

The interview itself was very pleasant. The interviewers Sharon Dale and Jono Sinclair were inquisitive and not biased against Tarantulas. You know, no “I’ve got a can of Doom at home” jokes were cracked… We really do hope that the interview went far to dispel a lot of fear for tarantulas and spiders in general. The first step to get yourself free from the fear of spiders is to know more of them, all you have to bring to the table is a healthy dose of curiosity.

Special thanks goes out to Arno Naudé and the people of CliffCentral (Sharon and Jono in particular)!
